Biography

Strongly marked by the influence of American minimalist art, Plamondon’s playful, abstract sculptures explore positive and negative space.

Marc Plamondon is a self-taught sculptor, born in Quebec City in 1948. He taught political science at the University of Montreal and at UQAM and practiced law for 25 years. Plamondon turned to sculpture after having studied and practiced painting, especially watercolour. He has also practiced photography. Since 2005, he is devoted exclusively to the sculpture of various metals, such as recycled steel, aluminum and iron. He lives and works in Lotbinière, alongside the Saint-Lawrence River.
